Acting Police IG Denies Ordering Withdrawal Of Police Aides Of Buhari’s Family Members, Other Top Govt Ex-Officials | #NwokeukwuMascot

Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun.
The Nigeria Police Force has denied that it instructed the withdrawal of the Mobile Police Force personnel attached to Daura Buhari, brother of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha among others.

The Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, in a release on Monday afternoon, ordered investigation into such claim, as the police said the signal directing such withdrawal was not from the force but “fake.”

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said, “The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) wishes to address the ambiguity surrounding a signal that has been in circulation on social media, purportedly originating from MOPOL 45 FHQ ABJ, ordering the removal of police aides from certain top politicians and their relatives.

“The Police hereby unequivocally clarifies that the signal is fake and did not emanate from the NPF or any of its formations. More emphatically, the signal deviates from the Police’s telegraphic message structure and standard as the signal bears the signature of a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), which is highly irregular, as a signal of this nature would typically be signed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), who heads such formations, and not a higher-ranking officer.

“The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has taken immediate notice and has ordered a thorough investigation into its source and assures that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible for its creation and dissemination.”

Newsmen had earlier reported that Egbetokun said in Abuja at a conference with the Police Tactical Commanders, that the force would re-evaluate the responsibilities of the PMF to ensure their effective utilisation.

In the police wireless message from Mopol 45 Force Headquarters, Abuja, the personnel attached to ex-governors, former ministers, lawmakers and several Very Important Persons had been announced withdrawn.

The Force headquarters in its order with reference CB:

001/DOPS/45PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.15/353 signed by the AIG MOPOL, directed the addressees to implement the directive with immediate effect.

The message was addressed to DSPs Lauretta Iruonagbe; Yusuf Ishaq; Okeme Emmanuel; Ilesanmi Temidayo; Emmanuel Akaniro; Yakubu Francis; Chindo Atege; Zakari Mohammed and ASPs Osori Sani; Job Andrew; Iyabo Oluwadamilola, and Yakubu Anthony who are believed to be attached to some of the affected dignitaries.

VIPs affected by the withdrawal order include former governors of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha; former governor of Bauchi, Adamu Muazu; ex-Gombe State governor, Danjuma Goje and former governors of Ogun and Zamfara, Gbenga Daniel and Bello Matawalle respectively.

Others are ex-Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi; former Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipreye Sylva; former Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Gbemisola Saraki; former Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Henry Ikoh; former Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba and former Minister of State for Power, Goddy Agba.

Also, the orderlies working with the former Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Haliru Dauda; former Chairman House Committee on Police Affairs, Rabiu Lawan, and Senator Stephen Adey, were equally withdrawn.
