PDP BoT Leadership Change: Wabara Out, Ohuabunwa In | #NwokeukwuMascot

The development comes months after the Abia State chapter of the PDP suspended and subsequently expelled Senator Wabara over what the party described as anti-party activities and gross misconduct. His removal from the party effectively disqualified him from continuing in his capacity as BoT Chairman.
Senator Ohuabunwa’s emergence marks a new phase for the PDP’s top advisory body, which plays a crucial role in guiding the party’s leadership and ensuring internal cohesion. His election was reportedly met with wide approval among party faithful, who view him as a bridge-builder and a loyal party man with vast legislative and political experience.
Speaking after his swearing-in, Ohuabunwa expressed gratitude to the party for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work towards repositioning the PDP ahead of future elections. He emphasized unity, discipline, and loyalty as the key principles that would drive his tenure.
“I am humbled by this responsibility and deeply committed to restoring confidence in our great party. The PDP remains the true voice of the Nigerian people, and we must continue to uphold the ideals that have defined us over the years,” Ohuabunwa stated.
Party leaders and members across different states have welcomed the change, describing it as a necessary step toward strengthening the PDP’s internal democracy and reenergizing its leadership structure.
With Ohuabunwa now at the helm of the BoT, expectations are high that his tenure will foster reconciliation, stability, and renewed focus on the PDP’s founding principle.
