About three policemen were wounded when an unspecified number of gunmen, Wednesday night, invaded the Abia State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, headquarters of the Nigeria Police, located at Uzuakoli Road.

Details of the invasion are still sketchy at the time of filing this report but a source said one of the cops was matched by the invaders while two were shot.

The victims were said to have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

There were also fears that the armory of the station might have been raided by the attackers but efforts to confirm the attack were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna did not pick up calls put across to him.

Recall that the facility was sometime last year invaded by unknown gunmen, who burnt part of the premises, freeing the inmates.
