ASUU Sues FG Over Alleged Discriminatory Treatment Of Members | #NwokeukwuMascot

PDP LOGO Barely 13 days to the expiration of the 9th Senate, Senators Matthew Urhoghide (Edo South) and Ayo Akinyelure (Ondo Central) on Wednesday dumped their political platform, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Urhoghide and Akinyelure, who announced their resignation during plenary, however did not announce the party they will defect to. The Senators’ notices of resignation were contained in separate letters read by Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, who presided over the plenary. Though Urhoghide and Akinyelure were silent on the party they will join henceforth, the Deputy Senate President who read the letters urged them to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). While Urhoghide said his resignation took immediate effect, Akinyelure said his resignation will take effect from June 11, 2023 after expiration of his third term in the Senate. Some suspects at the Lagos State office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are feared missing after operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) prevented officials of the anti-graft agency from gaining access to their office in Ikoyi. Newsmen learnt from top sources in both agencies that over 500 EFCC officials were locked out and prevented from resuming work on Tuesday due to office ownership disagreements. The Department of Secret Service stormed the Lagos office around 7:00 am on Tuesday and refused to leave despite dialogue between operatives of both agencies. President-elect, Bola Tinubu and Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima have both been sworn in as President and Vice President of Nigeria, respectively. The Oath of Office was administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kayode Ariwoola, on Monday. Tinubu, a former Senator and governor of Lagos State was declared the winner of the February 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The candidate of the All Progressives Congress polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, who polled a total of 6,984,520 votes in the election while Peter Obi of the Labour Party came third in the election with a total of 6,101,533 votes and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
