2023: PDP National Headquarters Releases Timetable for Fresh Abia Guber Primary | #NwokeukwuMascot

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has released the timetable for the conduct of fresh governorship primary in Abia State. This follows the death of its former guber candidate in the state, Prof Eleazar Uche Ikonne on the 25th of February, 2023. Consequent upon that, the Party is expected to replace its late candidate within fourteen days of the demise through a fresh primary election. The party at both the state and national levels have been working assiduously together to ensure they beat the 14-day deadline as stipulated by law. The National Working Committee of the party has therefore released a statement today setting the timetable for the conduct of the fresh primary election. A middle aged man, Mr Nathan Oruta Ngwuta has accused the management of UBA Bank in Onueke, Ebonyi State of refusing to play CCTV footage of criminals stealing his new motorcycle which he packed to do transaction inside the bank. Speaking with our correspondent in Abakaliki, Mr Oruta said the ugly incident happened on Wednesday when he went to update his wife's account. According to him, " I went to update my wife's account and after about 2 hours of them dribbling me in the banking hall without doing what I came for, I went outside to check my bike, lo and behold the bike was gone." By John Okiyi Kalu Gov Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD Section 14(2) (b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) declares that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. In this declaration, the security and welfare of the people are conjunctively presented as a sole purpose. Accordingly, the primary purpose of government is seen as one but it has two interwoven limbs, namely: the security of the people and the welfare of the people. Notably, the deployment of the adjective “primary” in the said constitutional declaration suggests that the security and welfare of the people shall be the main or principal purpose of government in Nigeria. Failure of the government in this primary purpose will give birth to, if not tantamount to failure of the government in every other purpose because without the accomplishment of the primary purpose, the accomplishment of every other purpose of government shall be baseless, meaningless,
