Our criticisms not working; let’s pray for leaders says Pastor Adeboye.

Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) has advised Nigerians to quit complaining about bad leadership and pray for leaders instead.

He warned that failure to pray for leaders could result in devastating repercussions for citizens.

Citing how David, biblical King of Israel, conducted a census of Isrealites against God’s instruction and his disobedience led to the death of 70,000 men as an example, Mr Adeboye urged citizens to pray for “rulers”, saying rulers don’t suffer from their mistakes but citizens do.

“Pray for the rulers, we have spent so much time criticising them,” Mr Adeboye said in his sermon on Sunday. “So why are we suffering? Because we have not prayed. The fault is ours not the rulers’.”

“You should pray for them. I’m praying today and I pray you will join me to pray that God will continue to guide our leaders aright,” the cleric added, quoting 2 Chronicle 7:14.

The cleric further said Nigerians should pray for their rulers if they love themselves, lamenting the hike in price of flight ticket, constant power grid collapse.

“The other day I was asking how much is a Lagos to Abuja ticket, they said N250,000. Let me tell you one thing: it doesn’t matter how much bread is costing, there will be bread in Aso Rock.

“It doesn’t matter how many times electric grid collapses, there would be light in Aso Rock. If our rulers make mistakes, who is going to suffer? If you love yourself, pray for your rulers,” Mr Adeboye said.

Before now, in April, Mr Adeboye had said Nigeria is “moving steadily towards bankruptcy” under President Muhammadu Buhari as the regime’s reckless borrowing is driving the nation’s economy to the brink of collapse.

The revered cleric endorsed the historic #EndSARS protests against police brutality in 2020, hailing youths for speaking up.

“Our daughters will not be able to prophesy and young men will not see visions if we don’t keep them alive. I support the youths in this peaceful protest as they ‘speak up’ to #EndPoliceBrutality #EndSARS #ENDSWAT,” Mr Adeboye wrote on Twitter.
