The German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria and best known for its professional men's football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system suspended the Senegalese football star after he punched Sané in his face after having an argument during the match.

German football giant, Bayern Munich, has suspended Sadio Mane for one match and fined him following an altercation with Leroy Sane after their Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat by Manchester City.

The German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria and best known for its professional men's football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system suspended the Senegalese football star after he punched Sané in his face after having an argument during the match.

The club announced in a statement on Thursday that Mané will not be in the squad against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The statement obtained by partly read, “Sadio Mane, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday. The reason is misconduct by Mane after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine.”

Mane slapped Sane, 27, to leave his team-mate with a bleeding lip before their team-mates jumped in to separate the duo.

According to Daily Mail report, the former Premier League pair were first embroiled in an argument on the pitch which then carried into the dressing room.

Both players trained with Bayern’s first team on Thursday, before the Senegal international was suspended by the German giants.

Mane, who does not have history of being involved in such altercations, has been under scrutiny in recent months after a series of average performances.

The former Liverpool forward has scored 11 goals in 32 appearances during his first season at Bayern.

There are not thought to be any pre-existing issues between Mane and Sane.

Sane played the full match against his former side City while Mane replaced Jamal Musiala after 69 minutes.
Bayern look set to exit the Champions League at the quarter-final stage following the 3-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland scored the goals for Pep Guardiola’s side as they put one foot in the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition.

Bayern, who are top of the Bundesliga table, host Hoffenheim on Saturday and then turn their attention back to the Champions League next Wednesday for the second leg in Bavaria.
