JUST IN: Kuwait plans world’s tallest tower ‘Burj Mubarak’ | #NwokeukwuMascot

The one-kilometre tall tower will be the main attraction of Kuwait’s Madinat Al Hareer or Silk City.

Kuwait has announced plans to build the world’s tallest tower, called Burj Mubarak Al-Kabir. The skyscraper, which is expected to cost $1.2 billion, will stand at a height of 1,001 meters.

According to the real estate company Tamdeen Group, the tower will be part of a larger development called Madinat Al-Hareer, or “City of Silk,” which will be located in the Subiya area of Kuwait City. The development will cover an area of 250 square kilometers and is expected to include residential, commercial, and entertainment facilities, as well as a large central park.

The Burj Mubarak Al-Kabir Tower will be designed by the Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava, and is estimated to take about 25 years to be completed. The tower’s design is said to be inspired by a traditional Islamic minaret, with a slender form that tapers towards the top.

The new landmark will feature a range of facilities, including a hotel, offices, apartments, and observation decks, as well as a range of retail and dining options. It is expected to become a major tourist attraction and a symbol of Kuwait’s ambition and progress.

The development of the Burj Mubarak Al-Kabir Tower and the Madinat Al-Hareer project is part of Kuwait’s broader efforts to diversify its economy and reduce its reliance on oil exports. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs and attract significant foreign investment to the country.

Towering ambitions in Middle East

The Middle East is home to some of the world’s most iconic skyscrapers, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which stands at a towering height of 828 meters.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia is planning to build a 2 km tall skyscraper in Riyadh that would become the world’s tallest building upon its expected completion in 2030.

These towering structures are not only architectural marvels, but they also serve as symbols of the region’s ambition and progress, showcasing the impressive technological and engineering capabilities of the Middle East.
