Directs Account departments to prepare only May 2023 salaries.

The Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti has vowed not to pay the April salary to civil servants in the State, saying he cannot pay what the last administration "refused"to pay.

Findings by PUO reports revealed that the Governor has directed all the account department of the various Ministeries, Department, agencies of the state government to prepare May 2023 salaries only, which he said is the month he will commence paying them.

"The Governor said he won't spend money paying the April salaries his predecessor didn't pay, we have been asked to prepare May salaries only, he directed us to skip April" a source in one of the accounts department of told our correspondent.

It will be recalled that the former Governor of the State Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu had paid April Salaries to Local Government workers, while paying March salaries to state workers.
