Paris Saint-Germain has lost over 600k followers on Instagram since announcing Lionel Messi’s departure.

Paris Saint-Germain have started to feel the effect of Lionel Messi’s departure from the club after the club’s social media pages witnessed a massive drop in followers.

PSG announced the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will leave the Ligue 1 champions before his final game against Clermont on Saturday, June 3rd, and the news had caused a reaction from fans.

According to reports, die-hard Messi fans unfollowed the Paris club on the social media app Instagram upon hearing the news of the Argentine's departure.

PSG have lost more than half a million followers on Instagram already, and it is expected that the Ligue 1 champions will still lose more followers when Messi officially joins a new club.
