TRIBUNAL: ABIA LP NERVOUS AS PETITIONERS SET TO SUBPOENA OFFICIAL WITNESSES | #NwokeukwuMascot

 News

…….. TENDER CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES OF EVIDENCE IN SUPPORT OF CASE.

Dr Alex Otti | Sir Okey Ahiwe

In continuation of hearing in the petition brought by Chief Okey Ahiwe challenging the declaration of Mr Alex Otti as winner of the 18th, March, 2023, Abia State governorship election; palpable fear grips Mr. Alex Otti and his team as hearing of the substantive suit gets underway.

Recall, that the Abia State Election petition tribunal was reconstituted and brought back to Umuahia from Abuja for matters to begin afresh. At the beginning of proceedings in Umuahia, deliberate attempts were made by the Respondents to cause delays for the 180 days provided by law to elapse or knock out the Petitioners petition on technicalities.

Notwithstanding the ambush, the Petitioners lawyers crossed the hurdles and matter has advanced to hearing. In what looked like the reason, Mr. Alex Otti has been uneasy about the Tribunal hearing the petition on its merit, loads of evidence are ready to be tendered to the court in support of the Petitioners case.

In a deft tactics that seemed to throw the Respondents lawyers off-guard, Petitioners lawyers will be relying more on documentary evidence, supported by  written deposition of witnesses for its case.

 Court Gavel

Some of the documents have been tendered by the Petitioners and many more, including subpoena witnesses who will be presented for oral evidence within the remaining days allocated to the Petitioners by the court to make their case.
