“EXCESSIVE EXTORTION BY MEN OF THE POLICE FORCE, ARMY ON URURUKA ROAD, OBINGWA IS BECOMING UNBEARABLE” — Transporters.

 Ururuka Road

As we continue to praise the Executive Governor of Abia State, Chief Dr Alex Chioma Otti and his administration in making sure Abians and residence do businesses in a secured and business conducive state, let's not forget that the security operatives should also not go contrary to the Governor's directives.

Recently they've been continuous complains even before Alex Otti become governor about the rate at which officers of the police force and Nigerian army extort motorists who run the Ururuka road mostly from Ndiolumbe to Obikabia Junction in Obingwa LGA.

Series of complains came to us this morning and we were asked what is the Governor's take on that.

Our reporter had to take a tour on the road to find out, knowing fully well that since the emergence of Dr. Alex Otti, all form of illicit extortion stopped.

From our finds and interviews with motorists and commuters on the road, they complained bitterly of the excessive extortion by members of the Nigerian Police force and army saying it has now become an occupation for them.

One of the motorists, Mr. Adaeze Chidozie who spoke to our reporter said their complains isn't new as the previous administration under Okezie Victor Ikpeazụ become worst in dealing with such reports as the then Governor's residence was in same locality.

He said “Governor Otti has been busy doing wonders and introducing rapid development beyond expectations since he was sworn-in and we think this matter too should be taken very urgent. It's like the agberos have now turned to policemen because the road blocks seem to be increasing and adding on a daily bases. They now see us as office of extortion and the worst of it all is that things are hard this days and this force men aren't even taken such into consideration knowing fully well we've got families to feed”.

For some reasons, the Policemen refused us taken pictures saying such isn't allowed , but commuters and motorists continued shouting saying “Enough is enough, make una come go back una station and barracks, shebi Alex Otti don introduce Operation crush for una to dey secure our lives and not exotort us.

A commuter who said he deals in palmoil said “As this situation seem to be getting worst, we pray and call in his Excellency Alex Otti and his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mac Donald Ubah to please help the poor masses.
