Bola Ahmed Tinubu | Effiong Inibehe

A Lagos State-based human rights lawyer, Effiong Inibehe, has berated President Bola Tinubu over his nomination of some former governors and other politicians with corruption allegations and cases for ministerial positions.

Tinubu's ministerial nominees include the former governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle and some other former governors and politicians who are being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies, for corruption, money laundering and abuse of their offices.

This has sparked widespread criticism, especially from the opposition political parties.

Reacting to the nomination lists, Inibehe said that he sees the list as Tinubu organising a carnival for "thieves", stressing that the nominees, especially the former governors are individuals who have corruption baggage with many of them facing ongoing corruption cases.

He said, “It appears Mr. Tinubu has made up his mind to organise a carnival for ‘thieves’. That is the way I see it.

“If you look at most of the nominees, especially the governors, they are individuals who have corruption baggage. Many of them have ongoing corruption cases.”
