Umuahia Four-Lane To Six-Lane Project: Otti set to demolish over 160 buildings | #NwokeukwuMascot

The Dr Alex Otti’s led Abia State government has disclosed the demolition of over 160 buildings following the expansion of the already four-lane Ossah – Okpara Square Road into a six-lane.

The project which have met stiff criticism, described to be a ‘waste of limited resources as the 4lane road is in perfect condition. Subsequently, the state government was reportedly quoted to have said it is a major access to Abia state capital and as such, deserves the fit. 

The road leads into Umuahia metropolis from Abia Tower along the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt expressway.

According to the delegation, led by the State  Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije, demolition notices have already been despatched to owners of the buildings that would be pulled down to give way for the construction of the six-lane road.

“We embarked on this public enlightenment as the government of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti believes in due process while still being in a hurry to develop the state…We will give a human face to all decisions taken as we are all Abians,” the Commissioner said.
