Abia Ace Radio, Rapid 96.5fm, is preparing to celebrate the founder of the Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation, Sir Ncheta Omerekpe, as their “Personality of the Year 2023.” This prestigious award, bestowed by the Media Giants, aims to recognize and celebrate individuals who have made significant contributions to character development and nation-building.

The management of Rapid 96.5fm believes that this award is well-deserved for Sir Ncheta Omerekpe, also known as Ofo Ndigbo, as he is a silent achiever who has dedicated his life to solving societal problems. They believe that Abia, Nigeria, and the world need more individuals like him. The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 7, at 2 pm, and the public is encouraged to join in celebrating their “Personality of the Year.”

The event will be broadcasted live on Rapid Radio and TV, as well as on their social media platforms.

Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe, also known as Ofor Ndi Igbo, is a remarkable man who has overcome humble beginnings to become a beacon of hope for others. He was born on November 24, 1969, in Umuakwu Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia State. Chief Omerekpe attended Umuakwu Central Primary School for his primary education and Nelcin Secondary School Aba for his secondary education. He later obtained a degree in History and International Relations from Abia State University, Uturu, and a BSc in Project Management. He has also attended various international courses on management, including one from the prestigious London School of Economics.

Chief Omerekpe is a Certified Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers and serves as a Consultant to the Nigeria Senate Committee on Budget. He has received multiple awards for his contributions to community development, youth empowerment, and women empowerment.

As one of Abia’s foremost philanthropists, Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe has brought about significant positive change in various parts of the state through numerous projects. His community of Umuakwu and its surroundings have particularly benefited from his efforts. He has transformed the community by improving road infrastructure, providing solar-powered water projects, establishing skills acquisition centers, town halls, and equipping the community health center.


Some of the completed projects attracted by Chief Omerekpe include the construction and asphalting of 17 kilometers of virgin roads, the establishment of skills acquisition centers, the building of primary and secondary schools, the distribution of vehicles and motorcycles, and the construction of civic halls. He has also conducted free medical outreach programs across Abia State, equipped healthcare centers, distributed medical consumables, awarded scholarships to undergraduate students, and provided rice and fertilizers to indigent members of communities. Additionally, he has made donations to charity organizations and physically challenged homes across Abia and organized empowerment programs for widows, youths, and the elderly.

Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe is not only known for his philanthropy but also for his successful businesses. He owns and operates Omench Konsot Limited, Ncheta Global Resources Limited, Ncheta Farms Limited, The Omench American Hospital Limited, and the Ncheta Omerekpe Foundation.

Despite not holding any elected political position in Abia, Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe remains passionate about the progress of the state. He played an active role in the 2023 general elections to contribute to the positive direction of Abia.

Due to his outstanding contributions to humanity, Chief Omerekpe has received numerous chieftaincy titles, including Odozi Obodo (One who makes good) from the Ukwa la Ngwa Traditional Rulers Council, Onowu from his close associates, and Ofo Ndi Igbo from the larger Igbo community worldwide.

Rapid 96.5 FM, Umuahia, has made an excellent choice in honoring and recognizing Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe as their “Man of the Year.” His selfless services and dedication to improving the lives of others make him truly deserving of this prestigious award.
