The President of the Confederation of African Football Federations, Patrice Motsepe, has announced that President Bola Tinubu will be among the distinguished guests attending the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final between Nigeria and the host nation, Cote d'Ivoire.

During a press conference held in Abidjan on Friday, Motsepe expressed his excitement and optimism for the upcoming final, scheduled for Sunday. He mentioned that President Tinubu's presence at the event would be a notable highlight.

"I was informed that the President of Nigeria will be joining us. During the Nigeria-South Africa game, I had the pleasure of sitting next to the Vice President. Although I must remain neutral during the matches, my happiness may have been visible to those around me. I can't help but feel delighted," Motsepe stated.

When questioned about the possibility of Africa hosting the World Cup in the future, Motsepe emphasized the need for Nigeria to submit a bid.

He also disclosed his intention to have a conversation with President Tinubu regarding this matter on Sunday.

"As the president of 54 member federations, I have a responsibility towards each one of them. However, I must say that I am proud of Nigeria. If you haven't experienced the vibrant city of Lagos, you haven't truly experienced Africa," Motsepe added, expressing his admiration for Nigeria.

In attendance at the semi-finals on Wednesday was Vice President Kashim Shettima, who witnessed the thrilling match where the Super Eagles emerged victorious over South Africa with a 4-2 penalty shootout.

The AFCON final is scheduled to commence at 9pm Nigerian time on Sunday, promising fans a captivating showdown between Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire.
