In response to recent accusations from the 'Abia PDP Network Movement' urging the resignation of State PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Dr. Alwell Asiforo Okere, party officials have vehemently refuted the claims, labeling them as unfounded and politically motivated. The allegations, supposedly orchestrated by a self-proclaimed "PDP Lord and Emperor," have been dismissed as a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the esteemed Chairman.

The press statement, signed by Comrade Ugwumba Adiele, S.A Media and Publicity to the State PDP Chairman, highlighted that the "Abia PDP Network Movement" is a fictitious group with no official standing within the party structure. Furthermore, Comrad Adiele emphasized that the group lacks the authority to demand the resignation of an elected State Chairman.

The statement captioned; “RE:RESIGN NOW OR BE SACKED,GROUP TELLS ASIFORO OKERE” Adiele emphasized the unwavering resolve of party members and leaders to rebuild and rejuvenate the PDP in the state, rallying for solidarity to propel the party to greater heights, Despite challenges such as the recent closure of the State Party Secretariat by the Labour Party administration, party officials affirmed the resilience and unity of the PDP in the state.

The statement reads in full: “The attention of the State PDP Chairman, Rt.Hon.Dr. Alwell Asiforo Okere has been drawn to a nefarious and spurious article credited to one faceless group known as 'Abia PDP Network Movement' published by a hireling who was paid the sum of two hundred thousand naira to tarnish the good image of the State PDP Chairman and allegedly sponsored by a self-acclaimed "PDP Lord and Emperor" who failed woefully in his polling unit and failed to deliver himself and the PDP in his Ward and his Local Government in the last election.

“Ordinarily, we would have ignored the sponsored insinuation by a hireling whose stock in trade is propaganda if not because of the lies being fed the public by the said faceless group that has been totally overwhelmed by the soaring popularity of the State PDP Chairman whose antecedents and achievements since his assumption of office as the Chairman of the Party is unbeatable and while we call on our esteemed Party Members to remain calm and loyal to the Party and to ignore the said group,we therefore, state categorically as follows;

“That the said group with the name 'Abia PDP Network Movement' is a faceless group that does not exist anywhere and is not a registered pro-group with the Party in the State. That the said group lacks the constitutional powers to call for the resignation of an elected State Chairman of the Party hence they are not Members of the State Working Committee (SWC and SEC) of the Party in the State.

“That the State PDP Chairman enjoys a robust and cordial relationship with Members of the State Working Committee and the State Executive Committee of the PDP in the State which makes their claim of high-handedness false and unsubstantiated. That the elections are conducted and won in the various Polling Units,Wards and Local Government Areas respectively and not on social media or neither at the State Secretariat of the Party.

“That it is instructive and worthy to note that the State PDP Chairman delivered the Party in his Polling Unit and also delivered the Party overwhelmingly in his Ohuru-Mkporobe Ward and Local Government Area respectively while priding himself as the only political leader who delivered the Party in his Federal Constituency with the collaborative effort of a few other political stakeholders who were supportive during the last election. That the State PDP Chairman, therefore, challenges the said faceless group and their shameless sponsors to make available the copies of their Polling Unit, Ward and Local Government results to media or hide their faces in shame.

 Rt.Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere In the midst of party faithful during the last election.

“That it is remarkable to note that it is under the administration of Dr. Asiforo Okere that several reforms which promoted the image of the Party in the State were introduced which include as follows; payment of monthly allowances to the Party Executive from State to Ward levels, the facelifting of the State Party Secretariat to a conducive office environment for all,the donation of brand new cars to some deserving Ward Chairmen across the three Senatorial Zones of the State and most importantly, transparency and accountability which have resulted in the peace and harmonious working relationship witnessed among the Members of the State Working Committee of the Party in the State.

“That the sealing of the State Secretariat of the Party by the present Labour Party administration in the State is a political witch-hunt which does not in anyway affect the running of the affairs and activities of the Party as the leading opposition Party in the State. That PDP in the State remains intact and very active and that the exit of a few political merchants from the Party does not mean that the Party has collapsed or died in the State as being insinuated by the said group.

“And lastly, that the State PDP Chairman,Rt.Hon.Dr. Alwell Asiforo Okere, Members of the State Working Committee, Political Leaders, Stakeholders and the entire Members of the Party in the State remain committed towards rebuilding and rebranding the Party in order to bring it back to its pride of place in the State and it requires the collective effort of all the political leaders to join hands together to make the Party great once again in the State.” It ended.
