In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in Abia State, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in partnership with the Abia State government, successfully apprehended a notorious female dr¥g kingpin, Adaobi Nweke, who is also a lawyer, along with four accomplices in Umuahia.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately 1.217 kg of hard dr¥gs in Umuahia, marking a significant victory in the fight against illicit substances in the region.

Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, addressing the press about the operation, praised the collaborative efforts of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security and the NDLEA for their effective execution. He emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to eradicating criminal activities, citing drugs as a fundamental driver of crime.

Emetu affirmed that Abia State is resolute in its stance against criminal elements and issued a stern warning to all drug kingpins and criminals to vacate the state or face legal consequences. He highlighted Governor Alex Otti's administration's dedication to eliminating criminality, starting with previous successes at the Lokpanta Cattle Market, a notorious hotspot for criminal activities including kidnapping.

During the joint operation, Mr. Chukwunenye Alajemba, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, detailed the successful raid conducted on Adaobi Nweke's premises on Arochukwu Street by Calabar Road. He disclosed the seizure of a substantial quantity of prohibited substances, including cocaine, cannabis, and methamphetamine (mkpurumiri), alongside a cash amount exceeding N500,000.

Alajemba alleged that Adaobi, a legal professional and the daughter of the late drug kingpin Joe Kin Jagwa, has negatively impacted numerous young individuals through her illicit operations, underscoring the detrimental effects of dr¥g trafficking on society.
