The Pro-Obidient South East Leaders Forum (POSELF) has issued a call for transparency and accountability in Abia State governance, urging Governor Alex Chioma O of Abia State to substantiate claims surrounding the alleged misappropriation of N10 billion in Abia Airport funds linked to former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

In a press release signed by Chetachi Ikpe Coordinator of the pro group, it was  Emphasized the importance of integrity in leadership, the release highlighted the need for concrete evidence and transparency to maintain public trust and confidence in the governance process.


The release captioned “CALL FOR TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN ABIA STATE GOVERNANCE“ Recognized the challenges posed by the prolonged media war against Ikpeazu's tenure, the Forum underscores the need to avoid endless probes that may undermine governance principles. Instead, they advocate for a comprehensive approach to addressing governance discrepancies.


POSELF urges Governor O to remain focused on his responsibilities and seek guidance from Abia Elders to resolve existing media conflicts and foster unity within the state. They emphasize the importance of transparency, integrity, and a commitment to truth in governance matters.


The press release reads in full, “Governor O Urged to Provide Evidence on Missing Funds and Cease An-Ikpeazu Media Campaign.


“The Pro-Obidient South East Leaders Forum(POSELF) while standing for transparency and accountability in governance, urges Governor Alex Chioma O of Abia State to substanate claims surrounding the alleged misappropriaon of N10 billion in Abia Airport funds linked to former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. The accountability expected from the Abia State Government will not only uphold integrity but also pave the way for a more cohesive leadership that the Global Obidients Family can be proud of.


“Amidst mounng speculaons concerning the purported mismanagement of funds and other weighty allegaons against Ikpeazu, the call for public release of the forensic audit reports has heightened. The absence of concrete evidence and transparency surrounding the invesgaon is a cause for concern, impacng the integrity of Mr. Peter Obi and the esteemed Global Obidient Family. It is imperave that all stakeholders uphold accountability to maintain public trust and confidence in the governance process.


“The Forum acknowledges the challenges posed by the prolonged media war against Ikpeazu's tenure, cauoning against unfounded accusaons and emphasizing the need for evidence-based discourse. Also, the exclusion of an-corrupon cases from previous administraons, parcularly during the Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Orji era, underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach to addressing governance discrepancies. The Forum emphasizes the need to avoid seng a precedent of endless probes, which may undermine the core principles of governance and deter progress.


“We urge Governor O to remain focused on his responsibilies and refrain from engaging in personalized vendeas that distract from the Obidient governance agenda. Guidance from Abia Elders, especially figures such as Eze Isaac Ikonne (Enyi 1 of Aba), Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, Rtd, Prof. Ihechukwu Madubuike and Senator Ike Nwachukwu, is paramount in ensuring a swi resoluon to the exisng media war and fostering unity within the state. Moreover, elecons are over and it is now me for good governance devoid of parsanship and undue distracons.


“The purported explanaon provided by former Governor Ikpeazu regarding the Abia Airport project sheds light on the decision-making processes during his administraon. The importance of providing context and clarity in public discourse to dispel misinformaon cannot be overstated. As such, it is crucial to approach governance maers with transparency, integrity, and a commitment to truth.

“In conclusion, the Forum reiterates the call for Governor O to release the Abia forensic reports to insll confidence in the public and prevent further discord. Failure to address these concerns may have repercussions for the Obidients Family and Mr. Peter Obi in the future.
