The royal couple met with students and teachers, discussing the importance of education and the work being done by the school to support young people in the community.

Following their visit to the school, the Duke and Duchess traveled to a military hospital in Lagos, where they met with wounded soldiers and their families. The couple listened to the stories of the soldiers and expressed their gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

In addition to their visits to the school and military hospital, the Duke and Duchess also met with representatives from local charities and organizations working to support vulnerable populations in Nigeria. They discussed ways in which they could help raise awareness and support for these important causes.

However, the visit has not been without controversy. Critics have raised concerns about the cost of the trip and the security implications of hosting such high-profile guests. Some have questioned the motives behind the visit, suggesting that it is simply a PR stunt for the royal couple.

Furthermore, there have been reports of criticism from Nigeria netizens against the Duke and Duchess’s visit, with some accusing them of using their privilege to promote their own agenda rather than truly engaging with the issues facing the country, furthermore saying it’s disheartening seeing traditional rulers travelling to meet with the Royal Family.

“It is disheartening to see how we have belittled ourselves in this situation. Instead of our kings being visited in their palaces, they had to travel all the way from the South East and South South regions to pay a visit to someone who has been stripped of major royal privileges within his own family. It highlights a deep-rooted colonial mentality that we seem to have embraced, where we no longer grasp the concept of inferiority complex.”

However, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, recently hosted a private gathering in Lagos, where they had the honour of welcoming esteemed kings such as His Eminence, Engr Eberechukwu Oji, EZE ARO of Ancient Arochukwu Kingdom, Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi Of Onitsha, Olu Of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, Emiko, and many others.

In addition, the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, also visited Kaduna State on Friday and met with wounded and injured Nigerian soldiers at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital.

Contained in a report on the official website of the Duke of Sussex stated that Prince Harry toured the hospital facilities alongside the Chief Medical Director, Col. NS Onuchukwu.

The report partly read, “Designed to help wounded servicemen and women recover after injury, the hospital includes a leading physiotherapy gym and a high-tech prosthetics lab which offers state-of-the-art replacements to those who have lost limbs – a donation offered by Germany that has been transformational for on-site prosthetic fittings.

“Prince Harry met up with around 50 courageous soldiers across two wards, hearing about their stories of service and sacrifice and wishing them all a speedy recovery. Two of the men he had seen at last year’s Invictus Games, and their smiles were a reminder of what they’d seen was possible post-injury.”

The report also added that Prince Harry “was especially pleased to be able to congratulate Princess Owowoh in person since her graduation from The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.”

Despite these controversies, the Duke and Duchess have remained focused on their mission to support and uplift those in need. They have emphasized the importance of using their platform to shine a light on important issues and make a positive impact in the world.

As their visit to Nigeria continues, the Duke and Duchess are expected to participate in a series of engagements and events aimed at furthering their charitable work and connecting with the people of the country. Stay tuned for more updates on their visit.
