Abia State House of Assembly (ABHA) Chairman of the House Committee on Public Service, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, has extended his felicitations to Nigerian children on the occasion of the 2024 International Children's Day.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, George Egejuru, and made available to the press, Erondu Jnr expressed deep concern over the alarming issue of over 10 million out-of-school children in Nigeria. He called on governments at all levels to prioritize and address critical issues affecting Nigerian children in their policy agendas.

Erondu Jnr, who represents the Obingwa-West State constituency, emphasized the severe implications of such a high number of children lacking formal education, stating that it poses significant challenges for both the states and the nation as a whole.

Describing children as the pride of the nation, the Uhie-born legislator reiterated his commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders and government agencies to enhance the well-being of Nigerian children. He urged stakeholders to implement timely and proactive policies that would ensure children have access to quality healthcare and education, thereby securing their future.

Erondu Jnr also called on state governments across the country to domesticate and enforce the Child's Right Act of 2003, emphasizing the importance of protecting children's rights and ensuring their development.

Concluding his message, Erondu Jnr wished all Nigerian children a joyful and memorable Children's Day celebration.
