 The Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria Announces the results for May 2024 Professional Exams in General, Post-basic Nursing Programmes.


The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) recently announced the release of the results for the May 2024 Professional Examination in General/Post Basic Nursing Programmes, as signed by Faruk Umar Abubakar, the Registrar/CEO. This news is exciting and comes after the approval of the Honourable Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare.



A comprehensive summary of the results reveals that out of the total number of candidates who took the examination, 7,303 emerged successful, achieving an impressive pass rate of 78%. The breakdown of the results by program is as follows:


A) General Nursing Programme: 4,504 candidates successfully passed, representing a pass rate of 76%.

B) Refresher Programme: 102 candidates successfully passed, achieving a pass rate of 48%.

C) Foreign Trained Nursing (FTN): 202 candidates successfully passed, resulting in a pass rate of 50%.

D) Public Health Nursing Programme: 1,660 candidates successfully passed, showcasing an outstanding pass rate of 98%.

E) Dental Oral-Health Nursing Programme: 25 candidates successfully passed, attaining a pass rate of 78%.

F) Neonatal Nursing Programme: 35 candidates achieved a perfect pass rate of 100%.

G) Nephrology Nursing Programme: 74 candidates successfully passed, achieving a commendable pass rate of 81%.

H) Community Nursing Programme: 699 candidates successfully passed, achieving an impressive pass rate of 83%.


Heads of training institutions are directed to promptly check the online results of their respective institution(s) starting from Monday, 13th May, 2024.


Successful candidates are strongly advised to visit the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Portal (portal.nmcn.gov.ng) without delay to complete the online Registration and Licensing process.


It is of utmost importance to note that the online registration formalities, including the payment of the registration fee, must be completed within ninety (90) days. Failure to register within the specified timeframe will result in a penalty fee of sixteen thousand, two hundred and fifty Naira (A16,250.00) per applicant after the ninety (90) days period. Moreover, defaulting on the first licensing will incur an additional penalty fee of six thousand, five hundred and sixty-two Naira (A6,562.00) per year.


Mark your calendars! The next Professional Examination in General/Post Basic Nursing is scheduled to take place from Tuesday 5th to Friday 8th November, 2024.


Heads of nursing training institutions are kindly requested to submit statistics using the Examination Application Checklist (EAC) for the November 2024 Professional Examination to exams@mcn.gov.ng on or before 30th July, 2024. EAC submissions received after this date will be rejected.

Candidates are urged to promptly acknowledge receipt of the result and immediately contact the Registrar/CEO to rectify any errors. Please be aware that the Council will not entertain any complaints after 30 days from the release of the result.
