Eastern Poly, Janet-Frank College of nursing and Medical Sciences Hold Joint Matriculation and Convocation Ceremony in Abia State | #NwokeukwuMascot

Aba, Abia state - On Saturday, 1st June 2024, Eastern Polytechnic and Janet-Frank College of Nursing & Medical Sciences celebrated a grand joint matriculation and convocation ceremony. The event took place at the convocation arena of the main campus located on km 14, Obikabia Road, Umuoko, in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, Abia State.


Founded by Dr. S.A.N Egwu (JP) and his wife, Lady Irene Egwu, who serves as Head of Administration, these institutions have become pillars of education in the region. The ceremony was expertly anchored by Mr. Eze Maduabughichi Anselem (M.Sc), with Most Rev. Dr. Isaac C. Nwaobia - JP, FCMsp, Chairman of the Governing Council of Eastern Polytechnic, presiding over the event.



The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Felix Chinwendu Joel, who emphasized the distinct and demanding nature of the nursing profession. Urged the new nursing students to cultivate essential qualities such as caring, cheerfulness, patience, tolerance, altruism, and endurance, to succeed and avoid becoming what he termed "airborne nurses."


Dr Felix further highlighted the global opportunities the nursing profession offers and encouraged students to remain focused and avoid unnecessary distractions such as examination malpractice and cultism.


The founder of the institution, Dr. Egwu shared inspiring journey of entrepreneurship and academia, explaining the significance of naming the Janet-Frank College of Nursing and Medical Sciences after his parents. Dr credited his parents for providing him with a sound education and expressed his lifelong commitment to honoring them. He also explained his decision to establish the institutions in Umuoko,  aiming to benefit his immediate community, LGA and state by offering affordable education and creating job opportunities.


Most Rev. Dr. Isaac C. Nwaobia, alongside other dignitaries, formally inducted the new students and sent off the graduates, offering prayers for their success and well-being. The ceremony underscored the institutions' commitment to academic excellence and community development.

The event highlighted the commitment of Eastern Polytechnic and Janet-Frank College to providing quality education and fostering societal development.
