The Chairman of the House Committee on Public Service in the Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, has lauded former Governor Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu on his recent induction as a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, George Egejuru, Erondu, who represents the Obingwa-West State constituency, praised Dr. Ikpeazu as a distinguished scholar in governance. He highlighted Ikpeazu’s significant contributions to biochemistry and science, describing them as both remarkable and legendary.

Erondu, who previously served as Chairman of the Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA), warmly congratulated Ikpeazu on this prestigious achievement. He expressed profound gratitude for Ikpeazu's role as a beacon of inspiration to younger generations, the academic community, Nigeria, and the global stage. The legislator from Uhie prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Ikpeazu, confident that he would be endowed with even greater knowledge and wisdom for future endeavors.

Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D., was inducted into the College of Fellows of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at a ceremony held at the University of Port Harcourt. This honor recognizes Dr. Ikpeazu’s substantial contributions to the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology.

Barr Onyebuchi Ememanka, the spokesperson for Dr. Ikpeazu, announced that the induction ceremony, originally scheduled for the previous day, was postponed due to Dr. Ikpeazu’s travel engagements. Upon his return from abroad and subsequent commitments in Lagos, the Society graciously rescheduled the event to accommodate his presence.

During his investiture, Dr. Ikpeazu expressed his gratitude to the society for the recognition, pledging to continue advancing teaching and research in biochemistry and molecular biology. He possesses a robust academic background, with Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in various areas of biochemistry. Before his tenure as governor, he taught biochemistry at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across several Nigerian universities.

Dr. Ikpeazu is poised to soon attain professorship in the field, having published over 80 scientific articles in both local and international journals. He is also a co-author of the book "The Biochemistry of Environmental Pollution" and a Fellow of the Nigeria Environmental Society, among other accolades.
