Nvosi, Abia State - Corporal Lucky Ikpeama, a dedicated military officer who was tragically killed by unknown gunmen, was laid to rest today in his hometown of Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.


The burial ceremony was marked by an outpouring of grief from family, friends, and fellow servicemen who gathered to honor his memory.


Cpl. Ikpeama was ambushed and killed at the Obikabia Junction in the Ogborhill axis of Aba on May 30, an incident that has left the local community and military personnel in deep mourning.


Despite surviving over eight years of intense combat against Boko Haram insurgents in Maiduguri and its environs, Ikpeama met his untimely death shortly after being redeployed to his home state of Abia in 2023.


His colleagues, who spoke at the funeral, highlighted Ikpeama's unwavering bravery and dedication to duty throughout his military career. They expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a committed soldier who had given so much in the fight against terrorism only to fall victim to violence in his home state.


The ceremony also saw military officials and local leaders calling for enhanced security measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.



The ongoing investigation aims to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice and ensure the safety of citizens and military personnel.


Cpl. Ikpeama's death serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by those who serve to protect the nation and underscores the need for continued efforts to combat violence and maintain peace.
