Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate, has praised Emeka Nnadi, a renowned Nigerian-Canadian architect and community leader, for having a community park named after him in Canada. Nnadi, whose contributions to urban development have been significant, recently made headlines when a park in Winnipeg’s Bridgwater community was named in his honor.

Nnadi played a pivotal role in transforming the Bridgwater area, which in 2006 consisted of roughly 600 hectares of provincially owned farmland, into a thriving urban neighborhood with thousands of homes. His work in developing the area has been recognized as a major contribution to the community's growth and development.

In his commendation, Obi described Nnadi as an inspiration and a testament to the resilient and innovative spirit of Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of dedicated leadership in fostering national development, particularly for the youth.

"I recently read an inspiring story about a Canadian-based Nigerian, renowned architect and community leader, Emeka Nnadi, who had a community park named after him in Winnipeg’s Bridgwater, Canada, due to his immense contributions to community development and societal growth," Obi posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"This is why I have consistently maintained that committed leadership, which will build a productive nation for our teeming youths, remains critical for national development. With the very diverse array of skills, talents, and energy among the youths, we have all it takes to position our dear nation on the path of development, given the right leadership."

Obi extended his congratulations to Nnadi for his outstanding contributions to community development in Canada, which earned him this recognition. He also encouraged Nnadi and other Nigerians in the diaspora to continue being exemplary ambassadors for Nigeria and to contribute to the nation's development.

"I congratulate Emeka Nnadi for his outstanding contribution to community development in Canada, which earned him this recognition. I encourage him, and other Nigerians in the diaspora, to remain good ambassadors of our dear nation, and continue to contribute to our national development, as we build the New Nigeria which is possible," Obi stated.

This recognition of Emeka Nnadi underscores the global impact and contributions of Nigerians abroad, highlighting the potential for positive change and development through committed leadership and community involvement.
