Ukwa West - Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, conducted a condolence visit on Saturday to the families of five soldiers who were tragically killed in an ambush by unidentified gunmen. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Obikabia Junction,in the Ogborhill junction in Aba.


During his visit, Governor Otti met with the widows of the fallen soldiers, expressing his heartfelt condolences and offering support. The soldiers, who lost their lives while on active duty, were stationed at the 144 Battalion in Asa, Ukwa West LGA.


“We are going to work like we have always done very closely with the security agencies, particularly the intelligence units of the security agencies to ensure we leave no stone unturned.


“So I want to reassure the military high command, and the leadership of the military in Abia, that we are working together to ensure we bring those people(assailants) to book.” Gov Otti stated.

The governor was received by Brigadier General O. O. Diya, Commander of the 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Nigerian Army. Who said the military will leave no stones unturned until the perpetrators of the attack are brought to book.


“It is most unfortunate that such a thing happened without us being able to identify the assailants and get them to pay for what they have done.


“We will look for them, wherever they are, we will smoke them out.” Says Brigadier Gen. Olusola Diya. Commander, 14 Brigade Ohafia said.
