As Tinubu Visits Aba to Commission Umuatako Street By Enyinnaya Appolos(VIDEO) | #NwokeukwuMascot

Image
Opinion   When the President of a country visits any state for project commissioning, such a visit ought to be significant, worthy of the cost, logistics, and security implications that accompany a presidential movement. It should underscore a milestone project that impacts lives and reshapes the economic and social outlook of the people. It is unheard of for a sitting President to leave Abuja for any state merely to commission what is, in reality, a patched street. Yet this is exactly what is set to happen with the planned visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Aba this Friday at the invitation of Governor Alex Otti. For months, the opposition in Abia, led by the PDP, has demanded accountability from Governor Otti’s administration. They have raised questions about the massive inflow of funds into state and local government coffers due to increased federal allocations, with nothing to show for it. The Government in Abia, dismissed these concerns as mere partisan politics. N...

Speaking to newsmen in Yola, the Adamawa State Chairman of the ADC, Shehu Yohanna, said the party had unveiled its membership register, stressing that only those with valid membership cards would be acknowledged as bona fide members. “Atiku Abubakar should go to his ward in Jada Local Government and register, Babachir should go to his ward in Hong Local Government and register. That is the only way they can be treated as legitimate members of the party,” Yohanna said. “You cannot be taking decisions for a party you are not constitutionally a member of. All of you should register for the greatness of our party. It is illegal fo...

Abia LG Crisis: Outrage in Abia as councillors reject ₦240,000 pay despite ₦12bn monthly allocations | #NwokeukwuMascot

Image
News   A fresh wave of anger is sweeping through Abia State’s 17 local government councils as elected councillors have openly revolted against what they describe as “demeaning and insulting” treatment by Governor Alex Otti’s administration. Despite councils receiving a staggering ₦12 billion in monthly allocations, councillors say they are left to “wallow in poverty” with a take-home pay of just ₦240,000. Figures from the August 2025 allocation show that Aba South alone pocketed about ₦805 million, while the least allocation stood at about ₦615 million. Yet, the elected lawmakers at the grassroots who ought to serve as the closest link to the people say their monthly earnings cannot even cover basic transportation costs, let alone community engagement or welfare responsibilities. Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Leader of Osisioma Council, Hon. Victor Ngwakwe of Osokwa Ward 6, expressed his grievance over Abia state government for “relegating councillors to mere obs...

News   The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has indefinitely suspended Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South Senatorial District, over alleged anti-party activities, particularly his purported claim of leadership within the Action Democratic Congress (ADC). Recall we had reported the suspension contained in a press release signed by the party’s State Secretary, Peter Nduka, after a State Executive Council meeting, and later confirmed by the State Chairman, Sunday Onukwubiri, on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Addressing journalists, Onukwubiri said the decision was in line with APGA’s constitution, accusing Abaribe of ignoring a 24-hour ultimatum to publicly refute reports linking him to ADC. “You cannot be a member of APGA and at the same time go and become a leader of ADC; that is an insult to my party,” Onukwubiri declared. He revealed that Abaribe was invited a month ago to clarify the matter but failed to respond or provide an...

NECO's official results show Kano achieving a 5.886 per cent performance rate, with 39,351 candidates securing at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, out of a large cohort. The council emphasized that its final rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation, including state code 015 for Kano, placing it first nationwide. In contrast, Abia, with code 001, ranked 35th overall. The controversy erupted from a Premium Times analysis, which highlighted Abia's 83.31 per cent pass rate among its 11,260 candidates resulting in 9,381 passers as superior to Kano's 49.84 per cent pass rate from 136,762 candidates, yielding 68,159 passers. Image
News   The Obidient Movement has strongly criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over what it described as an unnecessary and hasty ultimatum issued to His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, regarding his role within the coalition. In a press release signed by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, the group accused the ADC of attempting to alter agreed resolutions midway, stressing that Obi would not be stampeded into making political decisions without proper consultation. The statement titled “RE: ULTIMATUM TO MR. PETER OBI BY THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC)” reads in full:  “Our attention has been drawn to the recent statement released by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) concerning the resolutions of the Coalition and our role within it. “We wish to restate our position clearly.
