We Suspended Senator Abaribe After He Claimed ADC Leadership in Abia – APGA Chairman | #NwokeukwuMascot
News
Recall we had reported the suspension contained in a press release signed by the party’s State Secretary, Peter Nduka, after a State Executive Council meeting, and later confirmed by the State Chairman, Sunday Onukwubiri, on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Addressing journalists, Onukwubiri said the decision was in line with APGA’s constitution, accusing Abaribe of ignoring a 24-hour ultimatum to publicly refute reports linking him to ADC.
“You cannot be a member of APGA and at the same time go and become a leader of ADC; that is an insult to my party,” Onukwubiri declared. He revealed that Abaribe was invited a month ago to clarify the matter but failed to respond or provide any explanation.
The APGA chairman stressed that due process was followed, saying: “We gave him 24 hours to refute the claim that he is the leader of ADC. He neither responded nor called us to make explanations.”
When contacted for reaction, Senator Abaribe’s media aide, Uche Awom, declined to comment, stating: “Until the time comes. For now, there is nothing to say.”
The suspension has stirred debate across Abia’s political landscape, with observers awaiting Abaribe’s response to both the allegations and the disciplinary action.
