Bauchi tribunal upholds Governor Bala Mohammed’s victory | #NwokeukwuMascot

  News    File Image  The Governorship, National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Bauchi has affirmed Governor Bala Mohammed as the authentic winner of the state’s gubernatorial poll. On Wednesday, the three-man panel of judges headed by P.T Kwahar dismissed the petition by Sadique Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the governor’s victory. It held that Mr Abubakar and his party held no ground to nullify the election. The respondents in the petition are Mr Mohammed, his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). On March 20, INEC declared Mr Mohammed the election winner, having polled 525,280 votes, while his closest rival, Mr Abubakar, polled 432,272 votes.

According to the Nigerian Army, the suspects were killed in a fierce encounter during a clearance operation in the early hours of Monday. A statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the incident happened at Igboro Forest, between Arochukwu and Ohafia local government areas of Abia State.
