  News    File Image  The Governorship, National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Bauchi has affirmed Governor Bala Mohammed as the authentic winner of the state’s gubernatorial poll. On Wednesday, the three-man panel of judges headed by P.T Kwahar dismissed the petition by Sadique Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the governor’s victory. It held that Mr Abubakar and his party held no ground to nullify the election. The respondents in the petition are Mr Mohammed, his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). On March 20, INEC declared Mr Mohammed the election winner, having polled 525,280 votes, while his closest rival, Mr Abubakar, polled 432,272 votes.

  News    File Image  The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of at least eight security agents comprising soldiers, policemen and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) by gunmen in the state. The Command's spokesperson, Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital, said the incident took occurred on Tuesday morning in Umualumaku community, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state Okoye, however, pleaded for time to get the full disclosure on how the incident happened. According to the Nigerian Army, the suspects were killed in a fierce encounter during a clearance operation in the early hours of Monday. A statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the incident happened at Igboro Forest, between Arochukwu and Ohafia local government areas of Abia State.
