Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji has been impeached, He was impeached on Tuesday at about 9am.
It was initially gathered that About 18 members of the Assembly signed for the impeachment with the exception of four persons. Which includes, Ginger Onwusibe, Munachim Alozie, Solomon Akpulonu, and Kelechi Onuzuruike.
Following a video made available to news outlets, Hon. Kennedy Njoku (Osisoma North), had moved the motion for the impeachment and was seconded by Hon. Chijioke Chukwu(Bende North).
The deputy speaker, Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu pronounced Rt Hon Chinedum Orji Impeached, called for Speaker Nomination which Barr Thomas Nkoro(Obingwa West) nominated Hon Chukwudi Apugo(Umuahia East), seconded by Barr Okey Igwe(Umunneochi).

According to reports, the impeachment may not be unconnected with the alleged unwillingness of the Speaker to commence impeachment proceedings against the state governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Ifeanyi Uchendu representing Ohafia South confirmed the impeachment to Newsmen but did not disclose other information.
Recall that Rt. Hon. Orji had lost bid to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Engr Orji, son of the former Governor and incumbent senator Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji, lost to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Obi Aguocha.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Uma Oke, said the LP candidate polled 48,199 votes to defeat Mr Orji of the PDP, who scored 35,196.
