The recent insecurity rise in Abia State took another trend on Friday 23rd June as the Bursar of the Abia State University(Uturu) Elder Chuks Nwogwugwu escaped kidnap attempt along Okigwe/Uturu road.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen trailed the Bursar’s Vehicle, a Toyota Corolla from the Abia State University Campus and opened fire on the car at a bad spot along the road, subsequently abducted the varsity Bursar’s driver, when they discovered he was not in the vehicle.

However, ABSU Bursar was lucky as he was attending to engagements in Umuahia, the Abia State Capital while waiting for his driver to pick him back to school.

The Okigwe – ABSU road is a 4 Kilometers road with over 8 police security and military checkpoints before the Abia State University.

A student of the institution who spoke to PUO reports on condition of anonymity called on Governor Alex Otti to arrest the rising insecurity which has returned back to the road as students are now afraid of their lives.
