IGP Orders Closure Of 17 Local Council Secretariats In Plateau | #NwokeukwuMascot

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the closure of all 17 local government secretariats in Plateau State.
Baba ordered the state police commissioner, Bartholomew Onyeka, to shut all the secretariats in the state.
A statement issued by the state police spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, on Thursday, said the decision comes amid the tension in the various local council areas following the suspension of their chairpersons by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
Mutfwang had suspended the 17 local government council chairpersons even though their tenures had not elapsed.
Meanwhile, some of the chairpersons who belong to the All Progressives Congress have refused to vacate their offices following the governor’s directive.
According to the directive, the local council areas will now be headed by transition committees comprising members of the governor’s party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The police noted that there was a possible threat of violence by supporters of the sacked local council chairpersons.
