There has been speculations from social media handlers that Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti visited Lagos Governor to discuss circumstances surrounding the demolition of shops belonging to Igbo people.

This narratives has met stiff and contrary reactions and comments from Netizens, as it is different from the true event.

In an online group, Abia Awakening, managed by Mr Maxwell Nwadike, it has been argued that Dr Alex Otti went to see the Lagos Governor for political reasons and in a guise to avert the pending election tribunal cases, while some applauded the move.

Recall that Photos of Dr Otti’s visit to Marina House had gone viral on Wednesday, after his chief press secretary, Mr Kazi Uko made public the Abia Governor courtesy visit in a press release captioned, “OTTI VISITS SANWO-OLU...” 

The state reads in full: “Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, stopped by at the Marina House, Lagos, on a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

“Otti was in Lagos to attend the annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, Section of Public Interest and Development Law, NBA-SPIDEL themed, “Post Election Nigeria: The judiciary in the eye of the storm".

“Picture (below, top) shows Sanwo-Olu and Otti during the  visit. Others, the Governors with newly appointed Secretary to the State Government of Lagos State, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin.

“Alex C. Otti Babajide Sanwo-Olu” he ended.

Subsequently, Otti’s supporters gave a different narrative of the purpose of the visit associating it with the ongoing demolition of sections of Alaba International market which is a predominant Igbo trade area, which many has described as inhumane.
