Abia State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of Emmanuel Uche, a 500-level student of Abia State University. Acting on credible intelligence, the police have apprehended the principal suspect, Emmanuel Victor, who was captured in a viral video committing the heinous act.


Recall we had reported the incident which occurred on March 11, 2024, in front of Miracle Lodge in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. The shocking video, which quickly spread on social media, showed the brutal murder of Emmanuel Uche, sending shockwaves throughout the community and beyond.


Following intensive investigative efforts, a team of police detectives from Abia State Police Command successfully arrested Emmanuel Victor on April 18, 2024, in Isiukwuato. The suspect has confessed to his involvement in the crime, providing crucial details to aid in the ongoing investigation.


ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer for Abia State Command, confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Victor. In a press release posted on social media platform X, ASP Chinaka partly stated, "The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Victor, has confessed to the crime. He is currently in lawful custody and will be charged to court."

ASP Chinaka’s statement captioned, “ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECT” reads in full; ”Name of Suspect: Emmanuel Victor, On 11/3/2024, a viral video surfaced depicting the murder of Emmanuel Uche, a 500-level student of Abia State University, in front of Miracle Lodge,Uturu.

“Acting on credible intelligence, today 18/4/2024, at about 1100hrs, a team of police detectives from Abia State Police Command, apprehended the principal suspect at Isiukwuato who was captured in the viral video committing the murder of Emmanuel Uche at Miracle Lodge, Abia State University, Uturu.


“The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Victor, has confessed to the crime. He is currently in lawful custody and will be charged to court.“ She ended.

The swift action taken by the Abia State Police Command is commendable, providing some relief to the family, friends, and the entire Abia State University community. The arrest of the principal suspect is a significant step towards achieving justice for Emmanuel Uche and sending a strong message that acts of violence will not be tolerated in the state.
