The suspension of Abia State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, by Governor Alex Otti has sparked strong reactions from the public. Many Abians are calling for her immediate handover to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They argue that failing to transfer her case to anti-corruption agencies would undermine the principles that Governor Otti's administration claims to uphold.

Recall we had earlier reported that Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has indefinitely suspended Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, the states Commissioner for Health in his Nvosi resident during the state executive council meeting today.

Following this development, residents has expressed their believe that only through thorough investigation and prosecution by the EFCC can justice be served, and the credibility of the Otti administration be maintained.

Reacting to the indefinite suspension of the health commissioner, a man identified simply as Ikpangi said, "Anything short of handing her over to the EFCC is a huge joke. We need full disclosure of the amount involved. Abians deserve to know."

Mr. Ibeneme, commenting on the situation, recalled how the suspended commissioner, Dr. Okoronkwo had previously accused the Ikpeazu administration of financial mismanagement as her reason for abandoning the state-of-the-art multi-specialist hospital built by the past administration.

"This is the same woman who accused Ikpeazu's government of financial impropriety and refused to put the new hospital to use," Ibeneme stated.

Comrade Ugwumba Adiele, reacting to the news, noted that about three of Governor Otti’s appointees had been indicted and suspended, but the LP-led administration failed to make these suspensions public.

"Governor Alex Otti has suspended the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, over alleged financial impropriety and embezzlement.

"This is the third appointee of Governor Alex Otti who has been suspended from his administration, yet there has been no official press statement or release from the state government notifying Abians of the offenses they committed.

"Why are these suspensions shrouded in secrecy? Comrade Ugwumba Adiele from the old Abia.”

The call for strict action underscores the public's demand for accountability and transparency in dealing with allegations of financial impropriety and corruption.
