In a recent announcement, Abia State University (ABSU) has rescheduled its 42nd Matriculation Ceremony to Friday, August 16, 2024. This decision was approved by the university’s Senate during its 272nd Regular Meeting on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Dr. Acho Elendu, the Registrar of ABSU, released a statement outlining the new details of the ceremony. The event will now be held at the University Pavilion, starting at 11:00 AM. The ceremony will include postgraduate students not previously graduated from ABSU, all first-year undergraduate students from both the Regular and Institute for Continuing Education (ICE) programs, and any admitted students who were unable to matriculate in their initial year due to valid reasons.
Students are required to pay a fee of fifteen thousand Naira (₦15,000.00) for the matriculation regalia (gown and cap) and brochure. Payments should be made at the university’s designated banks or via bank debit cards by Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Issuance of matriculation materials will begin on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
The statement emphasized that attendance at the matriculation ceremony is mandatory for all new students. Only students who have formally accepted their admission offer, paid their fees, and registered their courses are eligible to participate. All participants are expected to be seated by 10:30 AM, in time for the Vice-Chancellor's procession.
This rescheduling aims to ensure that all new students have the opportunity to participate in this significant academic milestone.
