Nenu Community Elects Obioma as Youth President, Egwuibe as Vice in Peaceful Transition | #NwokeukwuMascot

In a vibrant show of unity and grassroots democracy, the Nenu Community in Obingwa Local Government Area has elected a new set of youth leaders to spearhead developmental initiatives and represent the voices of the young people under the umbrella of the Nenu Development Union.

The keenly contested election, held on Easter Monday, was supervised by an independent Electoral Committee chaired by Barrister Obinna Friday, who also serves as the General Secretary of the town union. The process was widely applauded as free, fair, and transparent.

Emerging victorious in the election was Mr. Linus Obioma, who was elected Youth President, while Mr. Ejike Egwuibe was elected Vice President. Their election marks the end of the tenure of Mr. Alloy Nwaruma, who served a two-year term characterized by active youth engagement and community mobilization.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Linus Obioma expressed gratitude to the youths of Nenu for entrusting him with the mandate to lead. He pledged to run an inclusive and proactive administration that will prioritize empowerment, skill development, and unity among the youth.

“I’m deeply humbled by this mandate. I see it not as a position of privilege, but as a call to serve. Together with my team, we will ensure that the voice of Nenu youths is heard, their potentials harnessed, and their future safeguarded,” Obioma said.

Echoing similar sentiments, Mr. Ejike Egwuibe, the newly elected Vice President, emphasized collaboration and transparency in leadership.

“We are coming in with a vision to sustain peace, promote development, and foster a strong sense of belonging among all youths in Nenu. I will work hand in hand with our President and every youth to move our community forward,” Egwuibe stated.

The President of the Nenu Development Union, Mr. Ibe Ugwumba, while commending the Electoral Committee for conducting a credible process, urged the new leaders to be selfless in service and to act as ambassadors of unity and progress.

“This election has shown the strength of our democracy and the character of our youths. I congratulate the winners and advise them to serve with humility, integrity, and a commitment to the common good,” Mr. Ugwumba noted.

Reactions from community members were largely positive, with many praising the orderly conduct of the election and expressing optimism about the future of youth leadership in Nenu.

Mrs. Violet Eze , a community woman leader, described the process as “a beautiful moment for the community,” noting that the enthusiasm displayed by the youths was a sign of a brighter future.

“The energy, the passion, the peaceful atmosphere, it was a proud day for Nenu. These young men have shown leadership potential, and I believe they will not disappoint,” she said.

Another resident, Mr. Ikenna Egwuibe, an entrepreneur, emphasized the importance of continuity and accountability.

“The outgoing youth leadership set a solid foundation. I hope the new team builds on that and introduces fresh ideas. We need youth leaders who are visible, proactive, and developmental-minded,” he remarked.

As the new leadership assumes office, expectations are high, and the community watches with hope that this peaceful transition will usher in an era of purposeful youth engagement, unity, and development.
