Umahi: Southeast Governors Set to Back Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid | #NwokeukwuMascot

Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has called on former Governor Peter Obi to join forces with President Bola Tinubu by supporting his re-election bid in 2027.

He made this appeal during an interview for an upcoming State House documentary marking President Tinubu’s second anniversary, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

“Leadership is not about self – it’s about the people. If someone else is already doing what you would have done for your people, support him. I call on my brother, His Excellency Peter Obi, to join us and work with Mr. President,” Umahi said, adding that the South East is happy with the Tinubu administration.

He continued, “Peter Obi must be part of this summit where we will collectively endorse President Tinubu for the 2027 election. I say it boldly: the South East is happy with the President.”

Umahi emphasized that all South-East governors, regardless of party affiliation, are backing President Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister of Works stated that the South-East region is receiving significant federal attention and infrastructure development under President Tinubu, with several ongoing projects, particularly in Ebonyi State.

“The Igbo man is enterprising and blessed with God-given wisdom. What Ndi Igbo seek is fairness and a Nigeria that treats every zone equally. That is what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing,” Umahi said.

He highlighted notable projects including the Port Harcourt to Enugu, Enugu to Abakaliki, Enugu to Onitsha, Onitsha to Owerri roads, as well as the Second Niger Bridge, noting that President Tinubu has already paid 30% of the bridge’s cost.

Umahi also revealed plans for a summit that would bring together South-East leaders to formally endorse President Tinubu for the 2027 elections. He said the aim is to ensure project completion, strengthen national unity, and enhance the integration of Ndi Igbo into national politics.
