ABIA PDP CONDEMNS PURPORTED “SCORECARD” OF FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR, DEMANDS PUBLIC APOLOGY | #NwokeukwuMascot

In a statement signed by Elder Abraham Amah, State Chairman of the PDP in Abia, the party described the action as “unethical, misleading, and unacceptable”, warning that such attempts to appropriate collective governance as personal achievements undermine public institutions and set a dangerous precedent.
The statement reads in part, “The Abia State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned in strong terms the circulation of a document by the immediate past Deputy Governor, HE, Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, PhD, in which he claimed personal credit for hundreds of public service appointments, political placements, and government projects.
“This action is unethical, misleading, and unacceptable. Our Key Concerns are, Public Service Is Not Personal Property; Jobs in the civil service, judiciary, tertiary institutions, and state agencies are not gifts from politicians but the lawful rights of qualified citizens. Claiming personal ownership over these appointments undermines institutional integrity and demeans due process.
The party raised concerns ranging from Public Service Is Not Personal Property, Possible Abuse of Office, Lopsided and Unrepresentative “Achievements”, to Names Used Without Consent.
“The statement by the former Deputy Governor is suggestive of the fact that he may have used his influence as Deputy Governor to improperly influence appointments and employments for the individuals mentioned in the document.
“If true, this would represent a serious breach of due process, a violation of the collective interest of the state, and a potential contravention of the oath of office he swore to uphold. Such conduct, if established, could amount to a crime under existing laws governing public office.
“The so-called “scorecard” reveals that over 98% of the purported interventions were concentrated in a single village/community, neglecting Ohafia LGA and the other four LGAs of Abia North Senatorial Zone.
“Such parochial self-promotion runs contrary to the values of fairness and balanced representation which the PDP stands for.
“Individuals whose names appear in the document deserve an immediate public apology, as the publication suggests they were appointed through political patronage rather than merit.
“Failure to issue this apology may trigger multiple legal actions by aggrieved individuals to protect their reputation.
Abia PDP further stated that it is currently reviewing legal options, noting that the party’s legal team has been directed to advise on the next steps in handling the matter. “The Abia PDP has directed its legal team to review this development comprehensively, especially as the names of some of its members were mentioned without authorization.
“If necessary, the party will take appropriate legal and disciplinary measures to defend its members, protect the integrity of institutions, and ensure accountability.
“The PDP in Abia State rejects the personalization of public service and insists on equity, fairness, and due process. Leadership is not about individual patronage but about strengthening institutions and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
The statement concluded with a three-point demand to the former Deputy Governor, “We call on the former Deputy Governor to: Retract the document immediately, Issue a public apology to all named individuals and Clarify the processes behind the appointments claimed.
“The PDP remains committed to transparency, justice, and equitable representation across Abia North and beyond,” the statement ended.
