Exposing the Truth: Re Obinna Oriaku and lies, A Response to Governor Alex Otti’s Administration | #NwokeukwuMascot
First, I wish to acknowledge the congratulatory message from Dr. Alex Otti on my appointment as a Federal Commissioner in the Federal Character Commission (FCC). I assure you that I will uphold the highest standards of service, and this appointment in Abuja will not distract me from keeping your Government accountable as the Governor of Abia State.
That said, I must address the deliberate half-truths and propaganda championed by the likes of Njoku Ukoha. Such false narratives are meant to discredit the main issues being championed by the opposition in Abia Unfortunately, I have also come to understand that lack of technical knowledge about finance could be the problem of the aides of this Government as they keep making avoidable mistakes which expose how shallow they are in understanding the workings of Government.
They struggles to hide the truth about current Federal allocation compared to previous administrations. Last month August 2025, a total of N2.3 trillion was shared compared to N258b shared in December 2015, which came to N1.8b for FAAC and N1.6b for JAAC. This low figures continued for a while as Nigeria was then in recession, crude was selling for about $32 dollar per barrel . Their reference to April 2019 allocation is deceitful as allocations have started upward improvement, besides the Executive council had been dissolved as at that April preceding the swearing in of May 29th, 2019. I will encourage these aides to consult their supervisors before they come public to ridicule the same Government they struggle to defend. We thought they said the Government is populated by technocrats.
I am sure by now they would have been thoroughly embarrassed as the attached Financial report shows that actually between April, May and June 2025, Abia State average revenue stood at N114b , this is made up of Federal allocation of N103b and independent revenue (IGR) of N14b. averaging N38b.
The Abia opposition have remained issue-based, challenging this government with verifiable evidence. For instance, I have repeatedly asked the State Government about 6 months ago, to provide proof that more than ₦3.2 billion was paid to Heartland Construction for the Port Harcourt road by last administration, contrary to the ₦9 billion figure which the Governor claim.
I have also highlighted that ₦58 billion was written off in 2024 an alarming fact that remains undisputed. Instead of addressing this, they tried to introduce another meaning of budget estimate and budget performance , though we have noticed lately that they are forcing those contractors changing roofs and digging foundation of kitchen line block of schools to work 24hrs. That does not answer that 1 year ago, October 2024 ,N58b was written off. We are aware of 14b of January to June 2025 still on same repairs of pubic schools including ASUBEB of N8b in same repairs of public schools.
I also have demanded evidence that the Government House building is under a lease arrangement with annual payments, yet this administration has remained silent. I have also challenged the Government to prove claims of a ₦4 billion growth in Internally Generated Revenue, excluding the huge sums collected from public schools and state-owned health institutions though last month we noticed an increase especially with the 100% increase on all tax windows.
We have asked for proof of the ₦54 billion allegedly spent on repairing public schools from October 2024 till date, yet all that can be shown are a few incomplete structures, such as at DPS. This suggests the funds were either mismanaged or diverted. Similarly, we have questioned the ₦75 billion supposedly spent on projects in just three months April , May and June 2025, yet there is nothing tangible to show.
We have exposed how the administration having exhausted the 2025 budget of N750b added additional N150b as approved by Abia House of Assembly, making Abia State 2025 budget N900b ( document attached)What iconic projects can we relate with this humongous figures or were the figures written off .
We have written about the financial opaqueness of this administration and have always demanded for transparency especially in the cost of projects in Abia .For instance, In Owerrinta, the so-called Primary Health Centre is nothing more than an old colonial post office with a new roof, yet it was billed as a major state project and commissioned by the Governor wheras a 300 bed Hospital was being Commissioned same day by Kaduna State Governor.
The much-publicized “Medical City” Seaport and refinery at Owaza remain nothing more than bushland inhabited by reptiles. We have demanded details of Abia’s inclusion among rice-producing states hectares cultivated, farms in Owerrinta, and foreign investments in palm plantations with no response.
We have called for a list of beneficiaries of the ₦78 billion debt repayment (excluding the ₦28 billion for old salaries), yet many workers still claim they have not been paid. We want to see the names of old contractors who were paid, as well as the beneficiaries of the ₦15 billion supposedly spent in 2024 as compensation for properties affected by road projects.
We talked about unresolved pension issues and Goverment demand for forfeiture of N71b gratuity of both state and local government workers ,When Imo State under Hope Uzodinma just paid off N70b owed Imo workers since 2005. Is this part of the lies. Abia state has received about N1.4 trillion and N71b will not derail the administration if paid to this workers.
We have repeatedly noted the opaque nature of Gov Otti’s government, with contract costs hidden from the public. Prove us wrong publish the costs of just five roads. You claim to have delivered roads in Isi Ala Ngwa South, yet we maintain that only 2 km have been completed. Let us see the roads and their lengths. Umuikaa to Umuoba , the first road that was flagged off in Isi ala Ngwa South in Nov 2023 is still a death trap as three Okada riders died on that road last year.
In 2024, Abia’s local governments received ₦362 billion, with the smallest council getting ₦530 million in July. Yet local government chairmen reportedly receive only about ₦6 million each, with the rest controlled by the state. Where is the transparency and the fulfillment of the Governor’s campaign promise to let LGAs control their allocations? Where is the "new Abia" we all trumpeted.
We have exposed how villages around Nvosi remain in darkness while the Governor allegedly tapped a special electricity line to his private residence alone. We have also presented evidence of external borrowing despite the administration’s denial of domestic debt and listed seven federal roads handed over to the state without due process, now awaiting federal reimbursement.
Lastly, we have challenged the administration on the shocking allegation that former Commissioners of Finance earned ₦10 million monthly, while the current one reportedly takes home ₦17 million, with five cabinet members earning above ₦10 million, even as some workers in Abia state still receives N29,000.00 a month as salary. We expect a formal refutal from ABSUTH management on the N29,000.00 salary payment, two weeks after it was exposed by staff of the institution.
These are not personal attacks, they are calls for accountability. Until this administration addresses these questions with facts and transparency, we will continue to speak out against its fraud, propaganda, and empty promises.
