Abia SSG Prof. Kenneth Kalu Reportedly Resigns Amid Growing Wave of Departures in Otti’s Administration | #NwokeukwuMascot

Unconfirmed reports from Government House, Umuahia, indicate that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Kenneth Kalu, has allegedly tendered his resignation, further intensifying concerns over persistent high-level exits from the administration of Governor Alex Otti.



According to credible sources familiar with the development, Prof. Kalu was said to have submitted his resignation letter during monday’s Executive Council meeting. Although government officials have maintained silence on the matter, insiders claim his decision was linked to his desire to reunite with his family in Canada.



However, political observers believe the administration’s refusal to acknowledge the alleged resignation is driven by fears of worsening public perception. The Otti-led government has in recent months struggled to contain criticism surrounding what many describe as a growing crisis of confidence within its ranks.



Prof. Kalu’s reported exit, if confirmed, would add to the long list of senior officials who have left the government under unclear or questionable circumstances. Notably, former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Chima Oriaku, and the former Commissioner for Education were among key cabinet members who exited earlier in the year. Several other aides and advisers have also stepped aside since the inception of the administration, with most departures shrouded in silence.



Political analysts say the trend of recurring resignations raises questions over internal cohesion, morale, and governance direction within the current administration. Citizens and stakeholders across Abia State have urged the government to address the mounting concerns rather than suppress information that affects public trust.



As at press time, the state government has not issued an official statement confirming or denying Prof. Kalu’s alleged resignation.
