The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently holding a strategic meeting in Abuja, coinciding with a pivotal National Executive Committee (NEC) session underway at the party’s national secretariat.

Addressing members at the opening of the BoT meeting, Chairman Senator Mao Ohuabunwa reiterated the resolve of the Board to rebuild confidence within the party and ensure the completion of congresses in all states where they remain outstanding.

He emphasized that the national leadership is prepared to work collaboratively with state chapters to entrench stability, rejuvenate the party’s structure, and usher in credible leadership across the federation. According to him, the ongoing internal engagements signal the party’s determination to reposition itself ahead of future political contests.

Senator Ohuabunwa outlined a clear roadmap that includes the conduct of overdue state congresses, consolidation of recent gains, and full support for the national leadership as it steers efforts to restore unity and discipline within the PDP. He stressed that these measures are vital to deepening transparency, strengthening grassroots participation, and ensuring a more cohesive organizational framework.

As the NEC session continues, party stakeholders are optimistic that the combined outcomes of the BoT and NEC deliberations will chart a renewed course for the PDP, rebuild trust among members, and present a more organized and credible front in the nation’s political space.
