The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party has taken a decisive step to reposition the party, dissolving the National Working Committee (NWC) and announcing a new 13-member National Caretaker Committee to oversee its affairs.

In a major resolution reached during its ongoing session in Abuja, the NEC reinstated Abdulrahman Mohammed as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee. He will be supported by Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, Umar Bature as National Organizing Secretary, and Kamaldeen Ajibade(SAN) as National Legal Adviser.

Other notable members of the newly constituted committee include Senator Sandy Onor, Senator Olaka Nwogu
Dr Kyari Grema, Hon Janguda Haruna Mohammed, Barr. Okechukwu Osuana, Prof Adenike Ogunse, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, Engr Deji Doherty,  and Dr Ibrahim Bala Aboki saddled with the responsibility to ensure stability and credible reorganization within the party.

Crucially, the NEC has mandated the Caretaker Committee to conduct all pending state congresses and organize the party’s national convention within 60 days. This timeline underscores the party’s determination to avoid administrative gaps and expedite internal restructuring.

The decision comes just ahead of the expiration of the dissolved NWC’s tenure on December 9, signaling a proactive move to restore order, strengthen internal democracy, and rebuild confidence among members.

With the clock now ticking on the 60-day mandate, the Caretaker Committee is expected to immediately commence consultations, harmonization, and organizational processes needed to guide the PDP toward a fresh leadership structure and renewed national presence.
