Nigeria Police Officers Remove Uniform As Gunmen Attack Checkpoint.

Yet to be identified  gunmen on Tuesday attacked a police checkpoint in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state.

Pandemonium rocked the state following the attack which caused police officers to flee from their duty post.

According to Daily Post, some residents are feared to have been gunned down while others are reportedly injured.

It was gathered that the incident happened around 10.30 in the morning along the Ihiala-Uli axis in Ihiala LGA.

The publication reports that security operatives stationed at the checkpoint removed their uniforms and took cover in nearby bushes and available shelters.

The Onitsha- Owerri expressway had been abandoned.

The attack forced drivers and commuters to run for dear lives and commercial bus drivers have suspended operations along the route.
