“Why I want to go to senate” - Gov Ikpeazu | #NwokeukwuMascot
Dr Okezie Ikpeazu PhD |
Abia State Governor and the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Senatorial candidate for Abia South District, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, said that his reasons for going to the Senate is to attract attention of the federal government to my people of Abia South, and state government.
Dr Ikpeazu, who spoke during a meeting of PDP Stakeholders in Ukwa East LGA of the state also said that, as governor of Abia State, he did not enjoy the support of the federal government, which should have helped his efforts in the development of the state.
In his words: “As Governor, I have not done everything and have not satisfied the every interest. I want your support to go the senate to represent you. I will attract attention to my people and state government when I get to senate.
“Part of what I suffered as governor is that I don’t have people helping to attract attention of federal government to the state.”
Buttressing why he supported Professor Uche Ikonne to be the candidate of the PDP, Governor Ikpeazu; “I have the entire Ukwa people in mind when I threw my support for Professor uche Ikonne, because if an Ngwa man from Abia Central didn’t become governor, it will be difficult for an Ukwa man to be governor.
“When power comes back to Abia south, the people of Ukwa can agitate for it. Also, if an Ukwa man is not governor, it will be difficult for an Osisioma to be governor.
“We need to support Ngwa in Abia central now so that when power returns to Abia south, it naturally comes to Ukwa.” He said.
