JUST IN: Otti bows to pressure, postpone prayer rally where Gowon was billed to attend | #NwokeukwuMascot

The Abia State Governor elect, Dr Alex Otti and his team has postponeded the prayer rally where a former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon was billed to attend.

A Statement endorsed by a member of the Otti's team and coordinator of the Abia State chapter of the Nigeria prays Apostle Chuks Alozie, the team said it was due to the unforseen circumstances and challenges.

It will be recalled that the prayer event had come under severe opposition by majority of Abians and Southern easterners over the choice of General Yakubu Gowon as the leader of the prayer rally to herald Alex Otti's Inauguration as the Governor of Abia State come May 29th 2023.

Following unforseen circumstances and challenges the Nigeria Prays South East Zone National Prayer Rally have been postponed till further notice.

We regret the inconveniences this might have caused to those who have prepared to come out to join in the prayers and guests invited.

The Leadership of Nigeria Prays wish to assure Nigerians that we would continue to pray and strive for the peace and unity of Nigeria, especially Abia State.

   News     File Image  Following numerous allegations against Mrs. Nwankego Onyeukwu, the Acting Director of Nursing Services at the Ministry of Health, Abia State, regarding her alleged extortion of prospective and current nursing students. The complain of Concerned parent Forum (for School of Nursing and Midwifery in Abia) which was directed to Gov. Alex Otti and copied to security agencies across the state, prompted the investigation which was stalled by Mrs. Nwankego's non-appearance leading to her arrest and detention. Recall that Dr Alex Otti had earlier suspended the former DNS, Mrs Dorothy Njedika Nwosu, and Principals of all the schools of nursing and midwifery in Abia State, subsequently appointing Mrs Nwankego Onyeukwu and others on acting positions.
