The Speaker of the 6th Abia state House of Assembly and former member Representing Isiala-Ngwa South state Constituency, Rt Hon Chikwendu Kalu has described the 7th Abia state House of Assembly led by Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji as a jamboree.

Rt Hon Kalu who made the statement during the 8th House of Assembly Inauguration Reception of his successor, Hon Dennis Rowland Chinwendu, Member Representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency, which held at Umuagu-Omoba in Isiala Ngwa south.

The former Abia Speaker described the 7th Abia Assembly as a jamboree, went further and urged the Speaker of the 8th Assembly Rt Hon Emmanuel Emereuwa to take a cue from the proceedings of the 5th and 6th Abia House of Assembly.

In the words of Rt Hon Kalu, He said: “Some state Constituencies are bigger than each other, bring up motions, craft Resolutions and let everyone know that it is not good.

“If you push it to federal, and they start the amendment, then you people have gotten it right as those in the national house of assembly knows what to do.

“Remove your eyes from the 7th Assembly, it was a jamboree, if you look at 5th House and 6th House, you will understand what I am telling you”.

The criticism surrounding the 7th Abia assembly might not be interconnected with how it ended.

Recall that the 7th Abia state ended with two factions following the controversial impeachment of the speaker, Rt Hon Chinedu Orji.

However, the immediate past Abia assembly ended with two factions claiming leadership, one faction was led by Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji with Rt Hon Mandela Obasi as Deputy speaker, while the other faction was led by Rt Hon Chukwudi Apugo as Speaker and Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu as Deputy Speaker.
