Otti Pays Only June As Abia Workers April and May Salaries Counts as Arrears | #NwokeukwuMascot

NEWS

Dr Alex Otti

Following a release from the office of Abia Governor’s Chief press secretary, Mr Kazie Uko, captioned; “OTTI FULFILLS PROMISE TO ABIA WORKERS, PAYS JUNE SALARIES.” Abia state government has confirmed the payment of June salary to core civil-servants.

Recall we earlier reported plans to pay only June salary while April and May salary counts as arrears.

However, this goes contrary to the promise Otti made on his inauguration, the 29th day of May 2023, where he assured of prompt payment of salaries, including pensions, gratuities and arrears, on or before 28th of every month.

Confirming our earlier reports, the press statement reads in full: “Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has fulfilled his promise to civil servants in the state to pay their monthly salaries on or before the 28th of every month.

“Dr. Otti on Monday directed the Accountant General of the state, Mrs. Njum Onyemenam, to ensure that all verified workers in the state civil service receive their June salary before Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

“The Governor's directive came after a meeting with the Accountant General and some other senior members of his government.

“Governor Otti had in his inaugural speech to the people of Abia on May 29, 2023, promised that under his watch salaries of civil servants will be paid latest 28th of every month.” Mr Kazie ended.
