The Abia state PDP Governorship Candidate for the 2023 general elections, Chief Okechukwu Ambrose Ahiwe, has admonished Muslim faithfuls in Abia state and Nigeria to earnestly pray for the stability of our democracy, economy and as do everything within the ambit of legitimacy to promote peaceful coexistence as they mark this year's Eid- El- Kabir celebrations.

In a statement made available to newsmen, Chief Ahiwe enjoined all Muslim brethren nationwide to explore the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which promotes the virtues of love, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Chief Ahiwe charged Nigerians to use this period as a time of sober reflection, noting that Nigerians are presently passing through several challenges but believes that the country can get out of it's socio - economic quagmire if we all imbibe and practice the teaching of Allah as enshrined in the holy Quran.

He maintained that, if the core values of God are dutifully implemented, the issues of greed, corruption, kidnapping, militancy and other social vices will be drastically reduced if not entirely eliminated 

Sir Ahiwe therefore urge Muslims in Abia state to remain peaceful, tolerant and see Abia as their home, reminding them to continually pray for the sustenance of democracy and good governance in Nigeria to the glory of Allah and build bonds of unity for the benefit of humanity and the nation at large.

   News     File Image  Following numerous allegations against Mrs. Nwankego Onyeukwu, the Acting Director of Nursing Services at the Ministry of Health, Abia State, regarding her alleged extortion of prospective and current nursing students. The complain of Concerned parent Forum (for School of Nursing and Midwifery in Abia) which was directed to Gov. Alex Otti and copied to security agencies across the state, prompted the investigation which was stalled by Mrs. Nwankego's non-appearance leading to her arrest and detention. Recall that Dr Alex Otti had earlier suspended the former DNS, Mrs Dorothy Njedika Nwosu, and Principals of all the schools of nursing and midwifery in Abia State, subsequently appointing Mrs Nwankego Onyeukwu and others on acting positions.
